about

22 minutes of progressive rock fun, lyrics based on a trip to Watkins Glen state park

lyrics

As I walk along, between the walls
I'll go high above, where I can see the falls
I'll walk the valley in the shadow of death
Narrow beams of sunlight on my path

High above the gorge, I stop to catch my breath
I've climbed the steps up to the top and felt their wrath
The water falls below me, to a pool beneath my feet
And looking down I'm sore afraid

There's a battle inside of my head
Spirit is fighting the flesh
My heart says its time to move on
But comfortable fear sounds alarm
And I feel the thorn

Gathering near, a crowd appears
Their voices call, they echo off the walls
I can't look down, or to my left or right
I'm paralyzed, and I close my eyes

And I hear the voices say
"You can rest hear but you can't stay"
I say "Take my hand I'm afraid"
But they're standing to far away
And as the battle inside of my head
Gets louder with each word that's said
Now is the time to move on
But I'm standing here frozen in time

It's a trial, a trial by fire
And it purifies, your deepest desire

Dont be afraid, dont look back
See the future, as you want it to be
Just move ahead, to the beat of your heart
And remember what you're fighting for
Be the one that makes you proud

It's a trial, a trial by fire
And it purifies, your deepest desire

Dont be afraid, dont look back
See the future, as you want it to be
Just move ahead, to the beat of your heart
And remember what you're fighting for
And remember what you're fighting for
Be the one that makes you proud

So if a battles inside of your head
Just remember these words I've said
You might be rich or poor
No matter your lot
You'll feel the thorn
